Dr Ali finds time to spend with us and explain what is happening. She gave us hope and treatment which so far has worked. Is always willing to answer questions about treatments we have heard about

25/8/15 Dr Ali has kept my blood count controlled, and me alive, for a number of years now. I have Polycythemia rubra vera and her expertise with medication and treatment, and willingness to make treatment decisions have inspired me with total confidence and re-assurance. I am indebted to her and trust her completely. In addition she is most kind and caring and supportive in every way. I have absolute confidence in recommending her. GEOFFREY ANNIS

Dr Ali.... A kind caring lady that has helped taking part in saving my life. Her knowledge and experience is at the top of the chart she is brilliant. At the age of 19 I was diagnosed with AML with a very slim chance of survival in 2008 today I am still living cancer free nearly seven years later now 26 years old - A miracle worker that has the passion to care for her patients. God Bless Dr Ali. Thank you again. Adam Walker

This is both a lovely person and a very competent doctor. I saw her for a haematology issue, and found her intellectually sharp and personally very caring. I am not sure if the NHS is going to send me her way again, but can recommend her highly to any other patients.

In the summer of 2013, my wife was rushed into Hull Royal Infirmary suffering from exhaustion, an infection and exceptionally low blood counts of all types. After 10 days of tests and transfusions she was released and placed in the care of Haematology at Castle Hill Hospital, Hull. It was here that we first met Dr Ali. We were anxious about my wife's condition and more than a little frightened but Dr Ali put us at our ease immediately. She took time to explain, in simple terms, what she thought the problem was and how she would treat it. She even gave it a name, ‘Autoimmune Pancytopenia’. As the weeks and months went by our respect and trust in her grew and we look forward to each appointment with her. She is friendly, willing to listen to what we have to say and has an attractive sense of humour. You could not want to meet a more charming woman or caring doctor.

Profile

I am a consultant haematologist at the Queen's Centre Castle Hill Hospital. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathology (FRCPath) since 1999. I specialise in myeloid malignancies and my subspecialty is acute leukaemia. I was trained in Leeds between 1994-2000. I started my consultant job in April 2000 with the Hull & East Yorkshire Trust. I am a member of the national NCRI leukaemia group. I am very patient orientated. I worked hard over the last 14 years to bring and provide most of available new therapies locally and I hope that I succeeded.
