I am the consultant in charge of Mallard Ward at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. We are a 16 bed ward 'dementia friendly' caring for older people experiencing delirium and acute medical complications of dementia. The secret to Mallard ward (named after the locomotive built in Doncaster) is the staff who understand how to care and support people with delirium and dementia.
