One of the best psychiatrists I have the pleasure of knowing.

As a patient’s family member I was basically faced with the choice of different medication which I felt I had no knowledge or experience to be able to choose . I made a decision which had no positive effect on my relative’s condition . Another medication was suggested which I reluctantly agreed to - no effect . The condition of the patient deteriorated and I queried the diagnosis because I could see definite cognitive deterioration. I was told that the original diagnosis of depression still stood so I reluctantly went along with the treatment. I pushed for some sort of scan & he had a CT scan which apparently showed no obvious signs of brain deterioration . After further deterioration & almost 9 months in hospital I was eventually told it was likely that it was Alzheimer’s. Now they want to discharge . I feel that we have been badly treated .
