Does not know anything about anxiety disorder or OCD. Nor unipolar depression, because she gives people higher dose antipsychotics, when only small doses should be used for these illnesses. So you basically feel like a zombie trying to look after your baby, then the staff think it’s your illness and continue to patronise you. In the weekly review meetings, there’s just a bunch of unqualified people there, with Gupta, all staring at you with blank faces, while you are talking. None of them have anything useful to say when you’ve finished.. Gupta then says ‘we’ll increase the dose’ see you next week. I had more psychological problems coming out of the mother and baby unit than I had when I went in. Due to the treatment. Outpatient just as bad.

I have seen Dr Gupta on a few occasions as well as had telephone contact. Honestly, she is the most genuine, caring, but also extremely experienced, knowledgeable and professional Consultant Psychiatrist I have ever met. She has a fantastic reputation and for good reason! I would completely trust her without hesitation. I wish more Consultants and those working in Psychiatry were far more like her. You cannot fault her manner, approach and attitude and work ethic. She has a lot of empathy for her patients. I wish I could work with her regularly and longer term as I feel the best possible care and what I would be most comfortable with would be with her, but she unfortunately doesn't work for my team. With her involvement you could always be assured you are getting the best care possible. Anyone that has her is exceptionally lucky to have her. Also just to clarify I mainly had dealings with her privately at The Priory but I also did years ago on at least one occasion when Maldon Community Mental Health Team existed as an NHS patient.
