About three years ago my GP became concerned that I had a problem with my heart and he referred me to Dr Richard Watkin. It was a very difficult time for my wife and the family. Initially I had an angiogram and was diagnosed with coronary heart disease, with stable angina which could initially be managed with medication, but there was a possibility that I may require stenting in the future. There were a few problems with medication and Dr Watkin fitted a stent about a year later. I continue to meet with him, less frequently these days, for a review. Dr Watkin has an excellent ‘bedside manner’, and a genuine interest in his patients’ welfare. He is very down to earth, easy to talk to and he explains in lay terms his diagnosis and his proposals and recommendations for treatment. Whenever I have mentioned his name in in front of his colleagues, it is obvious that he is highly regarded both by his staff and peers. I have had a number of health problems over the last 30 years, and have always been looked after extremely well by everyone at my GP practice, doctors, consultants and all the staff I have met in the NHS. I consider myself to be very lucky that I was referred to Dr Watkin. I have total trust in him and cannot recommend him highly enough. I sincerely believe he epitomises everything that is good in our health care system in the UK!
