Richard Thomson is an excellent consultant, the very best. He is always prepared to go that extra distance - if he feels that you would benefit from seeing another consultant, he is happy to refer you on himself. He does not bother to bounce you back to your GP. Apart from being friendly and kind, his greatest strength is that he listens, really listens to you.

I am really pleased with the care I've received from Dr Thomson. Being a doctor myself, I find it hard being a patient, but I've felt listened to and had my own thoughts taken on board. I appreciate Dr Thomson's concern around how my condition impacts my work and he has made suggestions to improve this. He has even sent me research papers with his letters as rationale behind management options which I particularly valued. I have previously felt dismissed by my GP when discussing symptoms, but Dr Thomson has thoroughly investigated me and remains keen to look for ways to improve my symptoms. Thank you.

Dr Thomson listened with understanding to the problems I have been experiencing for a number of years. He explained clearly what his assessment was and his approach to alleviating and possibly eliminating my symptoms. I was very impressed with Dr Richard Thomson He had an extremely pleasant manner from the onset. Dr Thomson was very thorough when asking questions and most importantly listened to the answers with interest I can honestly say it was a pleasure to talk to him. It's not often I will review anything, but the consultation I received from Dr Richard Thompson was superb and warrants some feedback. I was listened to and felt relaxed enough to have an open conversation in an unrushed and friendly environment. In many consultations I often feel that I have to get all the facts over as quickly as possible and sometimes you're not too sure if they are actually relevant or even if you are really being listened to. This was a completely different experience. The consultation made me think about a wide range of different triggers for my symptoms that I would never have considered relevant and was interesting and informative. I feel confident that the next steps that were advised are the right ones.
