I graduated from medical school in 1997, and completed both my general and specialist training in Yorkshire. Toward the end of my training I completed a PhD at Manchester University focusing on nutrition and appetite control and I have published and presented my research at both National and International conferences. In addition to my private practice, I have been a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Wythenshawe Hospital (now Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust) since 2010, where I am the current Clinical Director for Medical Specialities, including the Department of Gastroenterology. I am also extensively involved in the training of both medical students and junior doctors and am an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester. Having specialised in gastroenterology for the last 15 years I have a wealth of experience in all aspects of the speciality, with particular expertise and interest in clinical nutrition, IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease), and both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. At Wythenshawe Hospital I introduced and developed the hospital’s Nutrition Support Team and I run a specialist Inflammatory Bowel Disease clinic. I am accredited as a National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme endoscopist, Outside of work I have a busy family life; I am married to a GP , have 3 children and an energetic dog. As well as spending time with my family I enjoy swimming, playing tennis and sailing. I am passionate about my work and I always aim to provide safe, efficient and thorough care to all my patients.
