Hands down he is the best GP I have ever had. I have many physical health problems and it really affected my mental health last year. He was understanding and continues to be. He’s extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to know you. He is a kind person and has hands down at points saved my life, not that I think he knows that, but it’s true. I feel really lucky to have him and I think GPs this good are rare. If I could give him 100 stars I would. He’s brilliant.

I saw Dr Burkimsher today. As I walked in and sat down he had amazingly already spotted what I had come to see him about - which wasn't an obvious thing at all. He had checked and remembered my history and took the trouble to make sure he was getting the prescription right. He also took the trouble to ask me about some other issues and I was able to talk to him honestly and in confidence. He is a kind professional and proficient doctor and on top of that he is a kind and decent human being. Thank you. You just need to clone him now!

Dr Richard Burkimsher has been our GP for over six years. He is a kind, humane, listening and caring doctor. Very few doctors focus on hearing the patient's views and concerns in the way he does. He does not override the patient's wishes but gently discusses options. His calmness and humbleness reassures even an anxious and distressed person. He runs early morning and late evening surgeries. If asked to call back, he does it promptly. If the practice allowed, he would offer a longer than 10 minute consultation for more complicated issues. Wonderful man, every inch of his tall stature worth gold!

Dr Burkimsher was the duty doctor at the Cross Keys Practice on the day our daughter was suffering serious abdominal pains. Dr Burkimsher immediately referred her to the Stoke Mandeville surgical assessment unit who then performed an emergency operation to remove the gall bladder and the hospital successfully treated a serious infection which had got into her blood. The abdominal pains had originally been misdiagnosed at her university hospital three weeks earlier. Our daughter may not still be with us if Dr Burkimsher had not identified the problem so quickly and referred her immediately to the surgical unit. The whole family would like to thank Dr Burkimsher. We will also be thanking Stoke Mandeville Hospital who were also superb in resolving our daughter's critical condition.

I have needed to see my GP regularly over the last few weeks. Today in particular he was on call and despite what must have been a very busy day he made some time at the end of the day for me to able to talk to him. I was very grateful that he did. He listens carefully, works sensibly and logically and most of all he explains things clearly without ever being condescending. Thank you.
