Dr Burkimsher was the duty doctor at the Cross Keys Practice on the day our daughter was suffering serious abdominal pains. Dr Burkimsher immediately referred her to the Stoke Mandeville surgical assessment unit who then performed an emergency operation to remove the gall bladder and the hospital successfully treated a serious infection which had got into her blood.
The abdominal pains had originally been misdiagnosed at her university hospital three weeks earlier. Our daughter may not still be with us if Dr Burkimsher had not identified the problem so quickly and referred her immediately to the surgical unit.
The whole family would like to thank Dr Burkimsher. We will also be thanking Stoke Mandeville Hospital who were also superb in resolving our daughter's critical condition.
