Dr R Forbes is a most caring and professional medical expert that one could hope to meet. His personality and approach to identifying my medical issues was a great comfort in itself. He leaves no stone unturned. Dr Forbes has even emailed me on a Sunday evening and in early morning either to give information or make arrangements. I do not expect this level of service but it does demonstrate the quality and caring nature of this Consultant.
I have been going to Dr Forbes for several years now and I couldn’t name one fault. He is patient caring and goes out of his way to help. One time I got the wrong bus and was going to be over an hour and a half later to see him, and he stayed later just to fit me in. Best doctor I have seen.
Would not go back near this man!! he has left me disabled and in pain for the rest of my days. Only I went private I wouldn’t be here today. His profession is supposed to be headaches ?? Well he couldn’t diagnose mine as a brain tumour even after attending him for over 4 years and my condition was getting worse every visit. Never listened and tried to make me think that I was making it all up. Unfortunately I’m too late now the harm has already been done and is irreversible. But at least I’m still here NO THANKS TO HIM
Dr Forbes has seen me many times due to the conditions I have. He is always helpful and listens fully. He has helped me be involved in multidisciplinary meetings so I get the benefit of a full discussion with all professionals involved and sees me as an equal in my care to tap into what I think would help me and if it is suitable and accessible to me.
I have been talked down to many times by Drs , Dr Forbes is not one of them. He is on the level.
He explains things in a way I can understand and we make choices based on what I am happy to/ is possible to try with using his vast knowledge and experience He has liaised with many other professionals on my behalf to my benefit.
He is always in a good mood although the job itself must be stressful and with its own pressures, it stays out of the patient's realm. As a patient, you feel he is rooting for you as hard as you are rooting for yourself.
If it was possible to bottle this combined with his lovely manner, teaching skills for junior Drs and his wide range of knowledge which he can explain complex matters in a very simple way that it seems simple and straight forward when really its very complex. It could be a millionaire.
I'm a patient but from being inpatient as well, he comes onto the ward and he speaks to everyone and acknowledges them right from the cleaner up to a consultant colleague if the curtain is drawn around the bed, he announces himself to whoever is there. He has sat down on a stool at the end of the bed to talk to me because when he was standing it was hurting my neck looking up from the comfy position I finally found after trying to get comfy.
He makes a point of introducing himself even though you may know who he is and if he has a junior dr with his as well. This has been his standard practice since before I met him many years ago now.
