Seemed to listen, although this didn’t always translate.
Coercive.
Misdiagnosis with refusal to consider alternatives (multiple other professionals disagree), despite barely knowing me.
Only suggested one approach to treatment, which is not actually available in my area. I have since learned that other treatments are available to me and that telling someone they need 6-10 years of therapy to make progress is both dangerous, unprofessional, and unrealistic given the resources available in the UK. Mental health care received since including psychology team have been horrified by her ‘recommendations’.
Poor communication.
Extremely long delay in receipt of report.
experiencing psychoanalytical therapy can be a harsh experience. If you do not want to be challenged, dont go for this therapy, go for a softer approach. Since working with Dr Jukes, I have made huge shifts with issues in my life that i have been stuck with for many years. Dr Jukes works in a challenging way and she can often push painful buttons that provkes difficult emotions and memories but this is part of the process. I have found this process very helpful and I know that I was in very experienced hands. I feel privileged to have accessed this therapy for no cost as i know how much this therapy is when sought privately.
I was assessed for trauma at the Red House. This is a psychoanalytic organisation. I didnt feel she understood how terrible things had been for me, although she offered some valuable help. I dont think psychoanalytic treatment is whats needed in the case of trauma. I would try person-centred or cbt
