I have been with this surgery for nearly nine years and unfortunately I feel very let down by the cold and uncaring way of this relatively new doctor, fortunately I rarely have to see a GP but this doctors attitude has put me off making an appointment unless I am desperate. I now try to make sure I do not get booked for a consultation with him although mostly this is out of our control. It seems very sad to me, when a doctor who holds such a trusted and professional position can make a patient who is suffering or in need of help feel so insignificant and unimportant. It is not at all pleasant being spoken down to and treated like an idiot, it would be polite and professional if this doctor tried to give a little time and respect by listen to the patient properly. We might all benefit if he also looked at his manner and the way he talks at you rather than to you. The impression I have is he can’t get you out of his office fast enough. I wonder, is he like this with everyone?

I had been waiting to see a consultant for some time and after cancelations and re appointments made by the Hospital, I had a further 3 months to go before my appointment with the consultant. I needed some help with my medication which after a while was not working so well for me. I made an appointment to see a GP, to ask if there was maybe an alternative medication that could be prescribed just to give me a little relief from my discomfort while waiting to see the consultant at William Harvey Hospital in another 3 months’ time. Unfortunately, I was seen by this doctor who really was very dismissive and could not be bothered with me, all I did was ask if there was an alternative medication that may stand a chance of giving me a little relief. I was then told rather rudely, You have an appointment with a specialist, what do you expect me to do about it. I could almost understand this rude and unpleasant manner, if I had been bothering the surgery repeatedly, but this was my first attempt to get a little help. Obviously it was wrong of me to try. I found this hurtful and unnecessary and will not see this GP again by choice.

Seriously bad attitude, Pompous, uncaring and arrogant can't be bothered to listen or read your previous notes, because he knows best. It might be well for this doctor to remember most of us are mature adults who take their own and their family's and loved ones health seriously, while also having a better understanding of their own bodies and problems. We go to a GP for help and and hopefully effective treatment and not an ignorant attitude and arrogance. I would NOT recommend this doctor.

My personal experience with this particular doctor is not a positive one, it is distressing enough when you are ill and worried and need to see a GP without having this doctor’s negative manner to look forward to. I find him uncaring and not willing to listen, even though I have a serious long term medical condition He treats you in a very patronising manner and as if you don’t know what you are talking about, while also making you feel a complete nuisance. I believe this person is now the senior partner for this practice which is a shame as his negative and sometimes hostile approach seems to have rubbed off on most of the staff there. I have been a patient at this practice for a number of years before this doctor took over and have to say since then the service has seriously deteriorated. As if it is not bad enough having to battle your way through the very personal and intrusive interrogation you get with the receptionist just to get an appointment, you are then confronted in my opinion with the doctors patronising arrogance, the result of this is you leaving the surgery without effective treatment and definitely a dread of having to go back again. This is not right or fair and I intent change GP’s as soon as possible.

A very caring GP who listens to the problem and/or anxieties. A very knowledgeable doctor who will openly consult the latest guidelines of a condition & discuss them with you outlining the pros & cons concerning various treatments.
