Dr Hammond told us we had up to an hour and a half for our consultation so we knew from the start that we would not be rushed. He explained everything in great detail and despite having an older sibling with CFS my daughter and I learned for the first time exactly why she awoke exhausted each day. My daughter was told by Dr Hammond that lazy people never get CFS and this was for her the most positive thing about the consultation as she has been made to feel like a shirker at school. We found Dr Hammond to be friendly, informative, helpful and amusing. His story about Millie's cookies was particularly funny and relevant.

He was very straight to the point with what he had to say and was lovely the way he handled the information he was giving. He was open to any questions being asked and seemed to answer them to the best of his ability. I was very pleased with the treatment I received from him!

I saw Dr Hammond with my daughter who finally was being seen following years of not being listened to by the GP, but who actually has CFS. He re-assured her and me. I should add that I'm also a fellow HCP so I'm probably more critical than most- excellent re-assuring consultation.

On walking into the The Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases you get the feeling that it is well organised and the administration staff are efficient and welcoming. Dr Philip Hammond put my 8 year old daughter at ease immediately by stopping to introduce himself when walking past on route to his office rather than making us wait until our appointment started. Dr Hammonds has a natural ability to communicate an illness to a child in a positive way which resulted in my daughter being fully engaged in what was being discussed and she therefore took onboard details of her programme which is a important first step to recovery. Dr Hammond simple diagrams and explanations helped to acquire a general understanding of CFS and we left the appointment feeling better educated and in the right frame of mind to accept the diagnosis and how move forward. Dr Hammond is funny and polite and is good example of what you hope a Doctor to be so thank you Dr Hammond.
