Prof Lepping is an excellent doctor who listens, is competent and I totally trust his expertise and compassion.
Dr Lepping gave me a diagnosis of bipolar disorder ten years ago despite the fact that I didn't meet the diagnostic criteria. He even said at the time that he didn't think I was manic. I was in a very bad place suffering with depression and had previously seen Dr Lepping following an episode of drug induced psychosis.
He was quick to prescribe antipsychotic medication and also prescribed a benzodiazepine namely diazepam.
I have spent ten years living with the effects of the medication and the effects of the diagnosis.
I am extremely worried that this mistake will have an adverse effect on my future and that something similar could happen to others.
Of all the psyciatrists I have seen from Wrexham, Dr. Lepping is one of the least abusive. Not entirely accurate diagnosis, but no deliberate falsehoods either. I would of been willing to see this man again but as it is my case is closed and I have had an apology from the culprit at Betsi, so I hope I never have to
Not impressed. Not helped.Too aloof. No bedside manner. Not going back to see him.
Professor Lepping is a knowledgeable, psychiatrist who cares about his patients. Part of being a mental health professional is being supportive and giving advice, the other part is having to tell people things that they may not want to hear, as part of successfully living with mental illness involves making changes that will improve our lives. Telling patients these things doesn't always make you popular and doesn't improve your ratings but it does make you honest and genuine.
