Saw Dr P Haynes today, 27/11/2023. Absolutely lovely man. We chatted, he listened, he gave me advice about medication, diet and exercise. Honest, straight to the point and no BS. Best Dr I’ve seen for a long time. Many thanks Dr Haynes.

Great doctor, straight to the point, very practical and honest. Always ready to listen and talk things through. Helped me with exercise I can manage. Ready to change things if he thinks it is better for the patient, he explains everything in detail. He also trusts the patients feelings and ideas. He gave me an injection in the palm of my hand which I really expected to hurt as much as the previous one I had in my thumb. I honestly felt no pain at all! He is an extremely good doctor. I’m glad to have him on my side.

I highly commend the exemplary care I received from Dr Peter Haynes. He extended a rare combination of empathy, genuine patient-centred care and careful, constructive listening delivered in a context of expert clinical knowledge, skills and experience. I found him straight-talking (which some might incorrectly perceive as abrupt) but you need to listen to his perspective too ... its a two-way process ! I emerged from my OPD consultations on 1st July (Darlington) and 6th Aug (Durham) feeling valued, helped and profoundly fortunate in receiving such care in todays NHS. This clinician truly empowered me in controlling and managing my symptoms.

I went and seen dr Haynes at Rochdale when he was locum for rheumatoid arthritis. He was very abrupt. Telling me to lose weight as soon as I entered the office. Nearly made me cry at one point. But then I started to take in what he was saying. He told me I had inflammatory arthritis but then went on to say how I could help myself too. He told me In great detail how to lose weight. About exercise. Gave me thorough deep tissue massage. Even let me see his healthy lunch his wife had made him. Well if you are reading this mr Haynes. Iv turned my unhealthy life around. I did your recommendations and have lost 3 stone in six months and I’m going to gym and hydropool every day. I’m feeling tons better with hardly any symptoms as I am in process of healing my gut. Can’t thank you enough for putting me on the right track when all I felt was despair and anxiety.

I saw Dr Peter Haynes, Consultant Rheumatologist , on 9/03/2018 while he was working as a locum at Rochdale Infirmary, Lancashire. WOW! This doctor is definitely a one-off & I can't praise him highly enough. My visit was one of my six-monthly appointments & I was expecting to receive a brief chat & my annual steroid injection. NO CHANCE! After listening to me answer his questions & an examination of my poor, arthritic feet, leg joints & back, , he declared emphatically that he would not give me a steroid injection as he strongly believed it would do me more harm than good. He also stated that i was opiate (Tramadol) dependent & insisted that I stop my daily 300mg dose of time release Tramadol capsules in favour of a withdrawal programme. All this was followed by manipulation treatment to my dysfunctional spine & surrounding tissue massage. Diet advice followed & I have put into practice all his recommendations. WE NEED MORE DOCTORS LIKE THIS! He is very straight-talking but cares about his patients & goes the extra mile in his work. I constantly research health improvement & my own health problems, & the information & advice I was given by this amazing doctor is all spot on according to what I have learned. By the way, TIME WAS NOT OF THE ESSENCE & he spent an hour with me. If you do read this review, Dr Peter Haynes, then a BIG THANK YOU from me! ;)
