I was referred to Dr Lyons by my GP in order to obtain the results of a head MRI, following a collapse and admission to A&E. At the consultation, Dr Lyons had a brain scan up on his computer, with the screen facing us. At one point he told us we looked nervous, as we were looking at the screen, but "don't worry, it's completely normal". He then flicked the scan through several pages, indicating he had looked at the scan? He then gave a differential diagnosis of sleep apnoea, even though he was not qualified to do this, with two Respiratory Consultants saying this was nonsense. Found out two years later the scan shows a Meningioma (Brain Tumour). Currently not working because of this mistake. He was entitled to reply on a Radiology report which apparently (I have not seen it) says normal. He was not entitled to claim he had also looked at the scan, which he later denied.

I saw Dr Lyons as part of a review of ongoing neurological complaints seeking an expert resolution. He was clearly going through some challenges that day in his timekeeping within his clinic as he was extremely late and had kept the previous patient waiting for over an hour. My appointment was also very late. I found his manner to be rushed, brusque and somewhat challenging. His examination was conducted without explanation or commentary and I simply had questions fired at me. I felt quite exhausted at the end. The conclusion of the appointment was a diagnosis that was inconclusive and poorly represented the facts I had shared. In some areas it seemed to call into question the validity of my symptoms. I have seen a few neurologists before privately and through the NHS and was hoping to be able to access an expert opinion, but instead I felt like I was belittled and poorly listened to, and the outcome was most disappointing. I would not return and would not recommend. Even if he was just having a bad day.

A knowledgeable, thorough and considerate Dr, I cannot recommend him enough. Dr Lyons was recommended to me by another practitioner, as a consequence, I made my initial appointment. Once the appointment was made I saw some of these reviews and was concerned at the quality of care that I would receive. However, when I attended my appointment, Dr Lyons discussed my symptoms in great detail, he suggested further investigations and subsequent treatment plans. I left the consultation feeling clear at the courses(s) of action to be taken when we know the results of the investigations. Further, I left the consultation feeling that Dr Lyons had listened to me and was very clear about the steps to be taken next. I was very pleased with the consultation, the approach he took, and his clear explanations of both the reasons for this course of action and what to expect from it.

Excellent doctor, neurologist and human. Kind, attentive, friendly and I completely trusted his judgement. Put me at ease from the start, listened, mirrored my tone and I left feeling I 100% trusted his opinion. He gets a few tough reviews here that I don't understand. Would totally recommend.
