Dr Omar Al Gommer is the best physiatrist I have ever had the privilege to meet. He saw me back in August 2015 as an in patient at Hallam Street Hospital West Bromwich. He started me on the new anti depressants and anti anxiety tablets and Zopiclone sleeping tablets. He saw me each week on his ward round with his healthcare professional team of support workers, Aftercare Crisis Team and trainee physiatrists, ward staff. My aftercare support worker was Wan who I saw at Recovery College Oldbury and Whiteheath Health Centre. Wan used to see me each week with talking therapies and change my thinking process from an negative person to a positive one who is now stronger and wiser and who will promote The Mental Health Care services and treatment I received at Hallam Street Hospital, Friar Ward was exceptional and I call the nurses and support staff, MY NHS ANGELS. I was sent for home leave as my son and daughter and husband. were all very distressed and fidn’t know god thigh could help and support me as they were not experienced in this field. I attended my cousin brother’s marriage in August 2015 were I didn’t participate in the celebrations and was so low and out of character that my aunty Margaret and brother-in-laws tried to push me to focus my attention to celebrating. I went back to Hallam St on two more occasions as I was just getting worst. Dr Al Omar Gommer changed my medication and assured me that he and hi team would monitor me for any side affects. I stillwasn’t Getting better and gave up believing in God. I thought that I would never b better and would remain like this forever. Dr Gommer kept on trying and changing my meds and assured me that it’s like a lottery but when u have the winning ticket u will b better, stronger and more positive. These words gave me hope and the determination to fight this illness. Now this year in March 2018 I became better and was discharged from the outpatients dept. Dr Gommer said I can now drive, cook, clean shop, and find another job. I was so happy to hear these words and went back to my GPsHealth Practice, Dr Hanna and Partners, Hill Top Medical Centre Hill Top Road , Oldbury. I went back to see Dr Mewar last week were all my blood tests were clear, my weight has dropped 2 stones, I am been weaned off the meds and will b off them be December 2018 when I will b reviewed again. I am so happy, my families network are so happy and thank God for my recovery with his blessings. I know dream of writing and meeting Princes William and Harry whose late mother Princess Diana of Wales also suffered fromMental Illness. I want to do a talk at Recovery College Oldbury to tell my story to other sufferers and give them hope. I also want to do a joint talk with my fantastic father who is 76 and mother is 71years old are are full time carers to my younger brother who was bullied and acid thrown on him in college then hid his jacket until you little sister found it. He was then bullied and harassed at work by bullies who stole his food and threw his belongings on the floor and laughed and belittled and intimidated him. My parents have been caring for him for 25years now both suffering from Physical illnesses due to stress. I want to do talks and raise awareness regarding Mental Health and change the perceptions of people who think that if u have a Mental illness, u r mad and admit u th the Looney Bin Hospital where we all walk around in straight jackets shouting and screaming and then the physiatrist gives u Elc )Electic Shock Treatment). Would they think that of Princess Diana of Wales? Look at the charities that her sons and daughter-one-laws support.
