I had my lumpectomy and axillary clearance at Springfield hospital last week and Dr Niven Akotia was my anaesthetist. He made me feel extremely comfortable and has a wonderful bedside manner. I felt very safe in his hands and would not hesitate to recommend him. Going through cancer treatment is very daunting but having people like Dr Akotia on your side makes the world of difference. I hope he knows how great he and his team are and knows how positively he can influence a patients experience.

Despite being nervous Niven put me at ease the moment I met him on the morning of my operation. He explained the procedure to me clearly and concisely and allowed me to ask as many questions as I wished. His demeanour throughout the process was excellent with exactly the right mix of seriousness and humour allowing me to remain calm and engaged. I have no hesitation in giving him five stars
