Response from Dr Nicholas Denny

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience that weekend. It would help to have more specific feedback via appropriate Trust mediated channels. I'm not aware of any particular issues from any of the calls that weekend so this comes as a surprise. As you may be aware, on a weekend, there is limited haematology medical staffing covering more than one site and therefore non urgent triage queries are communicated via our triage nurses. Typically, one doctor covers triage calls each day which may account for the change in advice. Equally if there was a change in clinical circumstance this may also account for the change; we often encourage patients to try something and if that doesn't work call triage back for a further review. Either way, I'm sorry we didn't meet your expectations and hope we can do better next time.

Profile

I am a specialty trainee in haematology working in the Thames Valley deanery.

I completed medical school in Oxford and then moved to the the North West (Preston and Manchester) to work as a junior doctor. After finishing my early medical training in Manchester, I returned to Oxford to train in clinical and laboratory haematology.

I would like your feedback to help me identify what I do well and where I can improve.
