Written by a patient at Westcourt

I was concerned about my prostate, as I had reached the age when my father had the same problem and had an operation at St Thomas's Hospital in 1968 at age 73.With the recent publicity and well known personalities opening up about what is a very private matter, I decided I should get it checked out as I had the usual symptoms, frequent visits to the loo, especially at night, unable to hold on and occasional incontinence. All very embarresing. Being a typical man, I probably put it off a bit too long as, until a hip replacement op in 2016, I had never been to hospital. Hardly ever visited the Doctors either, so it was with some trepidation that I arranged to see the doctor on a Monday morning just a few hours after stepping into Westcourt Medical Centre.I consider myself fortunate to have been seen by Dr Natalie Hogg who immediately put me at my ease and answered my concerns with total professionalism. She examined my prostate, not a pleasant procedure (for either of us I imagine) and started the ball rolling and I am presently awaiting the results of a biopsy. In my opinion Dr Hogg is everything that a GP should be and in my limited experience of various doctors over the years, She knocks spots off of all of them with her calming manner and obvious medical knowledge. I'm almost looking forward to the next time I'm ill. Almost but not quite.
