Nandu Thalange is a Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital and an honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of East Anglia. He qualified from King's College, London in 1988 and was a junior doctor in various hospitals in London and the South East before taking up a research post in paediatric endocrinology at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. He completed his training as a senior registrar in Norwich and Cambridge, including two periods working in public health/health management for Norfolk Health Authority. After a brief spell as a consultant at Surrey & Sussex NHS Trust, he moved back to Norwich in 2002. He specialises in diabetes, hormone problems, growth, adolescence and overweight. He is active in research and teaching, particularly in the field of diabetes
My son was seen by Dr Thalange at Norfolk and Norwich, he was recommended and our son was referred by a London consultant. First thing as I walked in to the appointment room was",your out numbered " was said in a passive aggressive way.Thought at first just the way he is, there was about 8 people in the room, Dr Thalange did not disclose whether any of the people in the room were students. Wanted me to organise blood tests ,to be sent to him"it another health professional wanted these done. If he thinks my son needs blood tests then he should organise this and not put me in a potential position with another health clinician, in other words i should not be organising treatment plans on his behalf. While some people may find Dr Thalange bedside manner okay, I felt unfortunately that he was orchestrating the whole thing as a circus.Other quips he made to my son were " aren't all these tests torture".PWhen it was disclosed to him my sons diagnosis history and the fact that his symptoms weren't properly managed in his early years by a previous health authority, the circus antics then stopped and took more serious note of his job. When I was toldby Yanother member of staff in the room that he was lead consultant, I could not believe it. Have to say the consultant that recommended Dr Thalange, is totally professional in her approach does not deviate from her remit, and does not make weird and inappropriate statements or requests. Also this consultant is working totally on a factual template.
Found this doctor to be one of the best nnuh has. He is great with the children they all love him.he allways remembers the smallest details . I would highly recommend him.
Excellent doctor, one of the best. Very caring and helpful. Other staff at his clinics are also excellent. Has been caring for my child for several years.
