It took nearly 2 years to get a referral to community paediatrics. Ahead of our appointment we had to have questionnaires completed and mailed in private assessments that we had completed. We had to go private as we were constantly told nothing was wrong and as such we were not referred by the NHS. The private assessments backed up everything we as parents felt. When we arrived at the appointment the Dr was late. He was completely flustered. He did not engage with our son at all. The paperwork we sent in had been lost so he had no information. He asked why we were there. We were there probably 15mins and assumptions were already made about our child. As a specialist paediatrician it is incredibly disappointing. We have since had to wait over 6months for 1 further appointment that was equally painful and unhelpful. This second appointment was for him to write an EHCP. Again, did not engage with our son, had no paperwork and was merely there to enforce the direction of the LA.

Dr Montishewa had already decided that there was nothing wrong with my child. He stated that her sensory meltdowns were in fact just tantrums and she should think about the effect they have on her family. Such a poor understanding of SPD and learning disabilities. He tested her physical health with no real interest in her emotional or mental wellbeing. We left feeling like we were seen because we had been referred nothing more. We were never going to get a through assessment because it had already been decided. NHS is a sham and these doctors do their best to deny help in all but the most extreme cases. This was at Drove rd in Weston super mare.

Dr Montshiwa was excellent. He was thorough, he was a very good listener, and he took time to understand what we were going through. He made time to personally visit my child's school, speak to the teaching staff, the Special Needs Co-ordinator, and observe my child in their school environment. He was honest, and kind, and I would highly recommend him.

This Doctor does not listen at all. Not to parents not to school. He makes judgment before you even enter the room no matter what evidence you have. We wondered why people walked out of his room crying and soon realised for ourselves. Useless completely wasted time.
