I've always hoped for an opportunity to express gratitude to Michele for the profound ways in which she has single-handedly restored my faith in the medical profession. She has the rarest of gifts very few practitioners nowadays seem to possess - an ability to listen, to be empathetic, to inhabit the reality of those in her care - including the carers. My daughter suffers from multiple allergies and as a baby, she was eventually referred to Michelle after months of medical neglect. Due to this doctor's clinician supervision, we (yes, I was considered a vital part of Michele's team approach) were able to devise a care plan that worked. My daughter is now enjoying good health. I was so deeply affected by this experience that I'm now pursuing a doctorate in this area of research. How can things improve? Well, by embedding this approach within medical training and clinician practice. Michele is living proof this is not a piped dream but a possibility.
