Dr Pick listened to what I had to say and was caring and understanding
A very good listener. Explains diagnosis in an "easy to understand" manner. Ensures you have your input. He has a good sense of humour that puts patient at ease.
On my first appointment with this doctor he jokingly said I had been " a naughty girl" because my thyroid condition was proving hard to treat. I overlooked this at the time as I had just moved from another practice where I had problems and did not want to start complaining about my new doctor. But I do think it was an inappropriate thing to say to a patient who was potentially anxious about a long term health condition and seeking a positive relationship with a new healthcare provider. He seemed otherwise pleasant and reasonably proactive about my care. However at a later appointment he told me that "we can't really do anything for fatigue". I feel this was completely unacceptable, there are lots of things that can be done to investigate and tackle symptoms of fatigue and it is not reasonable to say to a patient who is only 40 something that they simply have to accept being unable to function normally. I haven't been to see him since. I am pleased that another doctor at the practice has taken my health concerns more seriously and I now see her in preference to Dr Pick.
Incidentally I am disappointed not to see thyroid condition in the drop down list below of chronic conditions. 1 in 20 of us will get a thyroid condition and it is in some cases extremely debilitating and requires a higher profile amongst health care professionals - particularly to help the 5-20% of us who are not easily treated. (stat source British Thyroid Association, Professor Graham Williams, etc)
We problem solved together which was helpful .
A fantastic knowledgeable Doctor who I feel totally at ease sharing problems with. He listens, acknowledges and advises in a very friendly and approachable manor. I am very pleased being a patient of his.
