Mr Michael Pellen

Mr Pellen is what every consultant should be aiming to become in my personal opinion. He listened to my problems without feeling like I was being rushed. He was sympathetic and did his utmost to solve my health problem. He explained things in a way which put my mind at ease. After 3 years under other consultants Mr Pellen went above and beyond to finally get the help I needed. And the most important thing of all is that I trusted him.

I don't know where to begin with describing how magnificent Dr. Michael Pellen is. I was admitted into hospital in April 2024, I was in a very bad state with sepsis caused by an abdominal cyst, I was literally minutes away from dying, but Dr. Pellen and his colleagues managed to save my life, thanks to their expertise and absolute dedication to their job. Not only that, Michael has personally seen to me in following appointments and hernia surgery, and has been outstanding with the way he explains all his procedures and the result of them in an easy to understand context, so I'm able to understand all the medical terms which has put me at great ease during the entire ordeal. I'd like to thank him, and his colleagues and nursing staff for making me feel as comfortable as possible. I will never forget you all, thank you all for being an amazing human beings!

From the first consultation, I found Mr Pellan to be courteous, attentive and informative , he put me at ease and explained everything in detail. and I always felt reassured that I was in good hands. From the moment I met Mr Pellen I felt at ease. He is outstanding in his field of work and this is why I chose him for a Laparascopic Cholecystectomy at Spire. Before my procedure he explained everything in great detail along with any risks. Afterwards, he came to see me on the ward, he made me feel like a person and not just a 'patient'. My scars are super tidy and pain is already getting better. I'm only 1 day post op. Thank you again Mr Pellen for giving me my life back!

Dr Pellen is an outstanding doctor never have I felt so safe in a doctors care. I have had surgery completed by Dr Pellen both privately and through the NHS. Dr Pellen is patient, compassionate and genuinely cares about his patients - going through every step of the process thoroughly and ensuring I was happy and felt reassured both prior and after surgery. One of a kind type of Doctor who goes above and beyond - anybody who is fortunate enough to be under his care will say same! I will be forever thankful to Dr Pellen he has given me my life back and his work is outstanding - 100% recommend him!! Thank you!!

Mr Pellen treated me for an incisional hernia via laparoscopic surgery. He was involved with the initial diagnosis and the decisions to be made as to the surgical options. He also carried out the operation itself. I can only say that I feel fortunate to have been referred to such a professional, competent and empathetic doctor. He took the time involved to explain potential alternatives in detail, and addressed all of my concerns and questions with great understanding and patience. On a personal level, he was very reassuring and confidence-inspiring, and I’m very grateful for the treatment I have received.

Mr Pelham listened to my problem including concerns. He explained exactly what he would do during the surgery. He answered all questions both my husband and myself had, which was very reassuring . I saw him post op and for my out patient check up. I am delighted with the way the whole process was for my surgical outcome, especially as my case was unusual. He is approachable and professional.

Mr Pellen is, without a doubt, the best doctor I have ever come into contact with in over 21 years experience as a patient with multiple health issues. He explained the problems with my gallbladder to me in a way that I could understand and answered the questions and concerns I had with a high level of knowledge. He also showed great patient understanding towards me in how different things can affect my condition and what medical advice can be hard to follow with the other health problems I have and also how this may impact me mentally. Mr Pellen demonstrated overall GI knowledge to an excellent standard when talking to him about my overall bowel health and surgery I have had. Ultimately, he took a huge weight off my shoulders, explaining pros and cons of my case and enabled me to feel empowered and in control of my care with his help going forward. I can't recommend him enough. Thank you!

I would fully recommend Mr Pellen if you would like hernia surgery. I had a completely wrong idea of surgery and was convinced that open surgery would give more room for the operation, I'm so glad that he explained to me that keyhole surgery was much preferable and that having room to work was not an issue. After the successful operation I had no pain and did not need any medication at all, surely that is the mark of a superb surgeon.

Complications with my Gallbladder operation and Mr. Pellen was sent for. During Keyhole surgery, he managed some very complicated work, which was such a success, that I feel better now than I have for the last 18 months.
