I guess some people would describe me as being in the winter of my life and indeed there have been times when I felt I was covered in snow and I would have loved to have closed my eyes and drifted away. Looking back over the years that I’ve suffered with an organ damaging autoimmune condition and especially the last 13 or 14 years, I found help, treatment and understanding from Dr Greenstone. Thankfully over the last year or two symptoms of this dreadful illness have subsided though the damage it left behind is permanent. For me, a previously fit person who loved country walks with rigorous climbs, recovering from the symptoms of this illness has given me a tremendous morale boost and after my last appointment with the good doctor I began a punishing walking regime, fair enough (have a good laugh) this entailed walking around and around the ground floor of my home at a brisk step. This walk is not something new, in fact when I first tried it almost four years ago I could only manage 20 metres, a few months ago it was 200m, now I have achieved an astonishing (for me) 1,000 metres, which at the moment I tackle twice a day, very soon I’m sure I will be able to increase this to morning, lunchtime and evening. I know I will never be able to tackle my old walking clubs 15-20 mile per day rambles again but I can’t wait for the day I can walk around Hull city centre. It’s not been easy getting to this this point, there have been times when I thought my old heart would either burst or just give up. But hey, at this moment in time to feel my heart beating and enjoying its new lease of life when I’m pushing it is fantastic, I no longer feel as though I am stuck in the cold days of winter, I feel as though I’m approaching my summer. Thank you for everything Dr Greenstone, your continuous interest in my case and the fact you never gave up, gave me the impetus to fight back and keep myself heading towards the distant light that now shines so much brighter. I truly hope you feel your choice of career has been a rewarding and satisfying one, it’s a special person who takes such an interest in the wellbeing of others and seek ways to show them that even with a life changing condition their life can still go on.

Dr Mike Greenstone has overseen and managed my respiratory treatment for many years since HE diagnosed the relatively rare condition I have. He has maintained a regular and personal intervention in his medical care and treatment. His unique personal style and attention to detail have been of real value to my managing and dealing with my medical complaint. He continues to set aside appointment time in his busy surgery schedule on a scheduled basis throughout the past 30 plus years! He is an expert in his particular field of medicine and a Doctor I am extremely grateful for his dedication and time in the NHS, and to me personally. Thank you.

Dr Greenstone has been my consultant for a number of years now, during that time I cannot think of one visit where he has not had time to listen to me and then investigate anything that I have had concerns about. He is a deeply dedicated specialist who like many of his colleagues does not receive enough thanks or praise for the work he does. I am certain that during his career he will have diagnosed and made life easier for many of his patients. I for one am tremendously grateful for the help, advice and care I have been shown over the years, he has my gratitude and sincere appreciation for everything he has done for me.
