As an 87 year old with multiple medical problems awaiting total knee surgery, I recently has a pre-op consultancy with Matthew at the Manor hospital, Oxford to determine whether there were any cardiological issues that needed addressing. His examination was thorough, involving both physical examnation and tests, and I found him both exceptionally personable and talented at offering appropriate explanations of the procedures and processes that was honest about difficulties but untinately reassuring. His report to my local Woodstock surgery was a masterclass in scientific prose and exceptionally thorough in details concering his examination and clear in its recommendations. His social manner is low key and courteous, and his patient interaction was almost collegiate, but modifying the dialect of the tribe to match his audience, in my case somebody curious and wanting to know, but without a scientific background. His expertise shone through the whole process and I would trust him completely. For me what might have been the subject of anxiety became a very positive experience.
