After having three episodes of atrial flutter, each one corrected by having cardioversion treatment, my heart went out of rythem again, I had discussions with my consultant in Jersey ( Dr Andrew Mitchell) and we decided a procedure " catheter ablation" was my best option of putting an end to this persistent problem, Dr Mathew Ginks at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford was recommended. Dr Ginks contacted me personally, we chatted, made the necessary arrangements, date,time etc. From the moment of my admission on the day of my procedure, I could not have been treated in a more professional, polite and friendly manner by every person I came into contact with, every one of the staff who dealt with me introduced themselves, explained there part in my treatment and put me at ease with good manners and humour. Dr Ginks explained the procedure to me fully, allowing me time to address any concerns I may have, his friendly approach portrayed a confidence and ability that made me feel I was in safe hands and calmed any last minute nerves on my part. Following the procedure Dr Ginks spoke to me again, advising that all had gone to plan, and we chatted again prior to my discharge to return home.
