I would like to follow up the review written by: 'Written by a NHS patient at Archway Medical Centre 28th August 2021' I have only just realised this review was written only days before my own appointment, and as for symptoms discussed, how the doctor handled the appointment, and how I felt. The previous review is pretty much exactly the same as my experience. I sent a long e-mail reply to Dr Pizzo about how he didn't listen to me at all, tried to fob me off to some community centres despite my anxiety and depression issues. I felt as if he completely gaslighted me and as if he heard the words but didn't actually listen to me or put together what the words actually meant. Sufficed to say I feel awful, to the point I called back the surgery almost in tears to book a new appointment to do what this appointment should have done with anyone BUT Dr Pizzo, I told the Dr (via e-mail) that he seemed like someone that had never suffered from mental health issues or even KNEW any friends or family with them. I don't really want to leave a review, but this is the only way to make me feel better after the disaster of an appointment (I have never had cause to complain about ANY doctor or health professional for ANY reason at any point during my life). I can only hope the review I referenced and this one will protect vulnerable people from this 'Consultant Psychiatrist', as he will drive people to self-harm and violence if he treats other patients like he treated me and the previous reviewer. He is NOT cut out for face to face mental health work, I seriously doubt he is cut out to be in a caring profession at all.

I requested my records from the Trust when I discovered this doctor made a diagnosis without even meeting me but based on some brief history (incorrect) shared. Such incidents are a major concern as these records or diagnosis are left for years to some other clinician to eventually reference the content. More importantly, I was not even aware of such a diagnosis which breaches all data protection and governance rule. Any consultant who makes a diagnosis this way should be struck off.

I saw Dr Pizzo having asked my GP for an assessment to address extreme emotional distress, high-level social anxiety, social awkwardness and suicidal ideation (I have two suicide attempts to my name). Right from the start, Dr Pizzo had me talk through all the most traumatic events of my life, from start to finish–something I find the worst possible trigger in mental health appointments. Despite seeing I was beginning to experience significant emotional pain, he didn't stop me or divert my attention, instead allowing me to spiral further and further in on myself. To make matters worse, he began to suggest courses of action that I would find impossible, including volunteering–since I am unable to work and, to his mind, lack daily structure–despite my having told him I dread social interactions with any but my closest friends. It was as if he were addressing a list of symptoms, rather than a human being with unique difficulties. I felt unheard and ignored. I left the session more suicidal than I had been in months.

I found Doctor Pizzo to be empathetic, attentive and a good listener and very professional in his demeanour and advisement on my condition. As such my health concerns are't easily identifiable and my communication and demeanour can be difficult and is an ongoing concern to which he offered a follow up consultation and prescribed what I believe to be a hopefully helpful and suitable medication. Dealing with mental health is a difficult and confusing state and I found Doctor Pizzo to be incredibly helpful although I would like to seek further consultations with other Doctors to seek a definitive diagnosis and understand the underlying Neurology I would recommend Dr. Pizzo for anyone looking to talk through their issues at length and understand themselves in a supportive environment.

I saw Dr Pizzo via Islington Practice based mental health service. I found him to be very responsive to my requests regarding my support via GP Services. I have no reason to distrust him.
