Greater openness about the operation and any consequences that may occur. Any problems should be revealed. After care should start immediately after operation. A more caring approach.

Approximately 2 years ago I began to experience discomfort in the thumb, index and second fingers on both hands. This was best described in layman terms as “pins and needles” which over time developed into mildly painful. A visit to my local surgery confirmed that the medical name for my problem was known as “Carpel Tunnel Syndrome”. Arrangements were made for me to attend a clinic at Hill Top Heights, Carlisle for a carpel Tunnel decompression procedure on my right hand as this was the most affected by the problem. Doctor White and his friendly team explained the procedure, completed the work under local anaesthetic and I left within 15 minutes. After 24 hours of very mild discomfort recovery continued without problem. About 15 months later I contacted Cumbria Medical Services directly as the symptoms in my left hand had become more apparent. I was offered an appointment the same day within 4 weeks and attended Maryport hospital on 10th December 2021 for the same decompression procedure on my left hand. Doctor White and his team again carried out the work with such friendly efficiency I really enjoyed the experience and would like to express my gratitude. Best wishes….. Mike Robinson

Recently I had an operation at Maryport hospital, whilst fully awake under local anaesthesia. I should have had no qualms prior the operation. Incredibly two men cut a hole in my abdomen and worked away for a long time repairing the hernia and then stitched my wound, whilst I was fully awake, without the slightest pain or discomfort (including post operation). The whole procedure from start to finish was absolutely totally painless! It is a tribute to the expertise and professionalism of Dr White, Mr Dresner and their team that they have developed such an absolutely totally painless operation and my very grateful thanks to all the team for their outstanding care.

Dr Martin White was excellent, he listened to me and explained how the tendons in my hand work, then described how it wasn't working properly. A steroid injection and follow up assurances, in and out in 15 minutes. Very professional, Dr White put me at ease immediatley. I would recommend this service and Dr White. Thank you. Barry K
