Dr Jenkins is a truly excellent GP. My father was incredibly fortunate to have him as his GP when Dad moved to a local care home. Seamlessly, Dr Jenkins took over Dad's care and the management of Dad's many complex ailments. And we, Dad's children, were immensely fortunate to have Dr Jenkins caring for our father. When we contacted Dr Jenkins, he responded at least within 24 hours, and normally sooner than that. When we spoke to him, he had a clear, knowledgeable comprehension of Dad's issues and gave us the time on the phone to discuss everything we wanted to talk about. He had the experience and the professionalism to discuss with us, the decisions that had to be made to best care for Dad, and he also gave us the confidence to make those decisions. If Dr Jenkins had concerns, he didn't hesitate to contact us and he was always incredibly kind and immensely professional. He did everything he could to care for Dad and indeed to care for us as well. His explanations were clear and Dr Jenkins made it surprisingly easy, for example, to discuss Dad's end of life care plan. Following that discussion, Dr Jenkins made sure that the correct drugs were available to Dad on site, to keep Dad pain free should he need swiftly, to switch his care to palliative care. Having taken every step to keep Dad well, when Dad's health finally failed, Dr Jenkins arrived at the care home, within maybe half an hour of us contacting him. He supported the 4 of us children, gently explaining what was wrong with Dad and breaking the news to all of us that Dad wasn't going to pull through this illness. We will be forever grateful to Dr Jenkins for discussing this with us so kindly and helping us to come to the tough decision not to send Dad to hospital, but to give Dad palliative care at the care home, so keeping Dad in familiar surroundings where he could be kept comfortable and where we could be with him when he died. Even after Dad died, Dr Jenkins made sure we could collect Dad's Certificate of Death quickly to help us to fulfil Dad's wish to donate his brain to medical research. We'll always be so very grateful to you Dr Jenkins, for everything. We'd also like to take this opportunity to thank the reception staff at Oxshott Medical Practice who were always incredibly kind and immensely efficient.
