I am pleased to see that I am not the only relative/carer of a patient of this consultant. I watched my relative be virtually ignored by "Doctor" He blatantly disregarded the concerns of his patient and also me when serious side effects were brought to his attention from the use of excessive chemotherapy treatment, he failed on more than one occasion to explain why so many rounds of chemo were needed for the diagnosis. I am now aware that he no longer works at the Royal Blackburn Hospital. Colorectal cancer patients in need treatment can now breathe a huge sigh of relief.

This consultant may be well qualified and knowledgeable about his speciality, but he has no insight or empathy for the patients he is caring for. These patients may have a slender grip on life. He does not listen to,or respond appropriately to any concerns voiced. He lacks the interpersonal skills required to be effective. He treated a relative of mine and I cannot recommend him at all. If you need oncology care or support I suggest you look elsewhere.

This consultant failed to listen to my many problems on every visit for over 2 years, leaving me super frustrated and suffering from panic attacks and social anxiety disorder. In the end, I refused to see him, there was no point of going. Considering this man is dealing with cancer patients he has no compassion or empathy for the many ways that this disease affects their life. My mental health has been severely affected by my the way this man and his team failed to address. Marcus Wise has now left the trust and I have an oncologist that listens, cares and explains everything for you, making you feel completely at ease with such a life-changing event. Dr Wise could do well to learn from Dr Hassan. I would advise anyone referred to ask for a different consultant. Cancer is a rocky road and you need someone who is going to support you, not undermine you!
