Terrible experience when my 94 year old father died. Dr Lucy Densham (GP at the health centre next to his EMI home in Woolwell) insisted on his dead body being transported back from the undertakers in Callington to her in Plymouth so that she could certify death and then the body be taken back to Callington. The annoying thing is that on the morning of his death (approx. 4am) at the EMI home in Woolwell, she was working at the health centre next door. The second doctor involved in death certification at Callington thought her behaviour was disgusting and told me that she had said that she didn't have time to look at the body at he home. I know for a fact (from many friends/family members who are doctors) that it does not take a long time to certify death. In fact according to the undertakers (C.Coombes of Callington) who were dealing with my father's death - all she did on receiving the body in Plymouth was lift the coffin lid momentarily and put it down again - this is not the appropriate way to certify death. This is the first chance I have had to air my views on Dr Densham's appalling lack of compassion/care. This morning I happened to find her name on a piece of paper as I was sorting out papers in my office - I looked her up on the internet and found this website where I could express my disgust and disappointment. I hope she enjoyed the fee she acquired from singing the death certificate. Appalling. A disgrace to the profession. A. Miles
