Dr Lisa Brownell is an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with both Private and NHS practices in Birmingham. She has clinical and academic interests in a wide range of mental health problems and has received Clinical Excellence Awards from the NHS in recognition of the high quality of her work. She is committed to working with patients to enable them to achieve positive mental health. She has particular expertise in the treatment of mood disorders (depression and bipolar affective disorder) and also has extensive experience and success in treating individuals with anxiety problems, obsessive compulsive disorder, eating disorders, addiction and dual diagnosis. In addition to qualifications in medicine and Psychiatry, Dr Brownell has a degree in Pharmacology, and is the Chair of the Pharmacological Therapies Committee and Assistant Medical Director (Pharmacological Therapies) for her NHS Mental Health Trust.She is Joint Chair of the Area Prescribing Committee for Birmingham, Sandwell, Solihull and environs and an Inaugural Member of the Regional Medicines Optimisation Committee for NHS England, Midlands and East. She is therefore particularly skilled in the use of medications in the treatment of mental health problems, where appropriate.
