I have been a patient here for getting on 20 years. I used to feel as if dr dean listened, took notice, keot me informed. I felt Abi listened, understood etc. I found the receptions to be polite, helpful nice. Since Dr Dean has left I have had nothing but problems with the surgery. Prescriptions not being sent to pharmacy, prescriptions being declined with no explanation, having messaging on patient access stopped by the surgery with no explanation. 2 possibly 3 letters ignored by the practice manager. The final straw for me has been that I was recently made homeless and to avoid going into B&B I have come to stay with my parents in Surrey. I phoned the surgery to let them know and the receptionist said as it was only temporary I could stay registered with the surgery. I should send some SAE'S the surgery would take off the nominated pharmacy my prescription was sent to and they would send scripts to me at my parents. I had started to run out of my medications, for diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and depression so as I was in Reading for a day went to the surgery to get an emergency script. I was told there were no doctors in the surgery and the receptionist would ask for this to be sorted. I went to the pharmacy to get advice about not having meds they phoned the surgery and the receptionist was unhelpful and said I'd have to change doctor to my temporary address. All meaning i was without some of my meds for 4 days. I got some more meds from the walk in centre. And will now register with a doctor in Surrey until I return to Reading. This has caused lots of added stress while being homeless, trying to find a new flat and with my long term health problems. I would not now recommend Melrose surgery as I find they haven't been able to be nice, helpful, respectful understanding with me. A great shame as Dr Dean was the first of 3 doctors I'd had over the years who I felt listened. The surgery now seems to be unpleasant and I won't return to it.
