I suffer from IBS and have done for a few years. I've been at uni and this was one of the first visits to my newly assigned home doctor (dr shiells) i explained that my ibs was flaring up and that my last doctor had told me cut out dairy, which had worked etcetc. anyway, she then told me that dairy intolerances have no bearing on ibs whatsoever and that i should out it back into my diet. she then gave me a hand out on ibs that stated within the first paragraph that dairy problems were commen aspects of ibs. she then told me i had to increase my fibre. i told her i was a vegetarian and ate very healthier that i didn't think it was possible to eat healthier - she ignored this and gave me a hand out on the importance of fibre in my diet. i then tried to talk about a gland in my throat that was swollen and has been for a long while. she told me there wasn't enough time to talk about both problems and that i had to choose one and book an appointment for the second. i tried to talk about it more and she actually stood up and opened the door waiting for me to leave. on the whole: very rude, doesn't listen, doesn't appear to care, and doesn't seem to know much!
