I've been seeing Dr Chivers for over 5 years and have only good experiences with him. He listens carefully to the symptoms and then comes up with a plan of treatment. He has been happy to refer me on when necessary and has been willing to try different approaches to ongoing problems.
I have a heart condition and have suffered a couple of heart attacks in the past. I presented to Dr Chivers with recognizable symptoms of heart distress. He ordered an ECG examination at the surgery - which came back clear. I was given a prescription for Statins and sent away. The symptoms persisted and I returned to the surgery next day and was seen by another GP who quickly identified an NSTEMI (non ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction), a heart attack sometimes missed by ECG - and was immediately sent to the RBH coronary care unit for Angioplasty surgery.
Given my medical history and clear description of symptoms (I knew from experience what was happening) a competent Doctor could reasonably be expected to know the difference between - and recognize the possibility of - a 'NSTEMI vs STEMI heart attack (as one eventually did) and treat accordingly.
A little more time (a minute or less), a little more care, and a little less arrogance might have saved almost inevitable and irreversible damage to my heart muscle.
Asked why I Felt the need to go back again about the same problem. Well because I'm very worried about you and I haven't found out what it is!!!!!
I have always found Dr Chivers to be an excellent Doctor. he spends the time to listen to any symptoms or problems before dealing with the issue in a professional and competent manner.
He is friendly and approachable and generally manages to stick to his appointments times although obviously this is dependant on any emergencies that might come in.
I have found him to be professionally knowledgable and up to date with new treatments and current trends.
I would definitely recommend Dr Chivers to others.
