Dr Fernando treated my family member, who has a learning disability, with great respect, addressing her questions to the patient and ensuring that she was comfortable. She discussed possible minor changes in medication with us, inviting our comments rather than just announcing what she had decided. She did not rush the consultation, but gave us plenty of time and opportunities to raise anything of concern or regarding which we wanted clarification.
