Dr Kevin Anakwe

I saw Dr Anakwe at The Priory in Darlington. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a great experience. He had a superior and uncaring bedside manner. He repeatedly interrupted me with his opinion (which he seemed to have formed before I even saw him), and he didn’t seem interested in listening to anything I had to say. His lack of attention was confirmed when his letter arrived, and there were so many incorrect details, I wondered if he’d sent another patient’s letter to me by mistake! He blamed my depression on my personality, which I found upsetting, and it made me feel more miserable than ever. Fortunately, the next consultant psychiatrist I saw was a specialist in mood disorders. He recognised that I actually have bipolar disorder, and once I was started on the proper treatment, I recovered very quickly. I now feel better than I have in years. I only wish I hadn’t gone through the awful experience with Dr Anakwe in the first place.
