I saw Dr Bundle for Post-Partum Psychosis in 2018 at Winchester's mother and baby unit. The details of my stay are all a bit blurry, but I remember Dr Bundle being intelligent, proficient and caring. Most importantly, she treated me as an active partner in my care, rather than as an unknowledgeable and unreliable 'crazy' person. She respected me and I respected her.

I was referred to Dr Kathryn Bundle in January 2011. I have a long history of mental illness, including diagnoses of Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Paranoid Personality Disorder (added Feb 2014) and a previous diagnosis of Schizoaffective Disorder (added April 2008; subsequently removed 2012). Dr Bundle is quite simply the best psychiatrist I have ever had. In my lifetime, I have seen approximately fifteen psychiatrists, both male and female, in the London, Wales and SW England areas. Specifically with Dr Bundle, on every consultation, she was kind and caring, her body language and 'people skills' were excellent, and I felt I could tell her anything about my thoughts and feelings, however potentially embarrassing. She is calm and I gained the impression she was genuinely upset by my illness and I felt she tried everything in her power to help me. Of particular note, I found her letter-writing skills to be excellent: she wrote very detailed and precise letters to my GP, documenting discreet phases of my illness so my GP and/or another care provider would have a thorough picture of my illness. This, in itself is an important trait, and is so often not characteristic of other psychiatrists I have seen before or subsequent to my care with Dr Bundle. Dr Bundle was open-minded in exploring different diagnoses (there was some debate about the exact illness), she appeared to have a good knowledge of medications, half-lives, medicine clashes, etc, and she made speedy changes (sent by fax) of medication to my GP. She helped me very much by unraveling things from my past which I had not considered, or was plainly in denial about. Dr Bundle spent a lot of her time with me discussing my past, and presenting it to me from her perspective, which was markedly different to my own, but nonetheless helped me understand what had happened. This, I felt, was enlightening. My life, particularly the Body Dysmorphic Disorder element of my illness, can be very difficult and distressing, but Dr Bundle asked me to describe my physical features in one consultation and told me that she did not see what I saw. She also went that extra bit further than most psychiatrists by breaking down in simple terms how my illness had come about. She had a good team under her control, and I was appointed a great psychologist who offered me 18 sessions of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (Dr Margaret Cariss, who was also a great clinician) and a Support Worker. I am very sad that I had to move home away from Dr Bundle's catchment area as I miss her excellent work. There is nothing whatsoever negative to write about this doctor. She is a rare find, an exemplary psychiatrist in all ways, and I am certain that she has helped me deal better with symptoms, as well as helping me lessen the impact of my chronic illness in all its manifestations.

This Dr treats me with respect and dignity and validates how I am feeling. This Dr makes helpful medication suggestions and gives me time and resources to research any new medication before going on it, consequently allowing me to make an informed choice. This Dr treats me as a whole human being, and looks beyond my psychiatric diagnosis to try and find things that I would enjoy in life to help improve my mental ill health.
