Dr Karim Ratib

Dr Ratib performed an angioplasty on me following a heart attack in July 2019. I had a blockage in an artery in my heart and severe pain in the chest. I was admitted into A & E as an emergency. His skill and ability is beyond compare. Cool calm and very efficient. He explained everything that was going to happen and explained the risks involved but there is no doubt in my mind that he saved my life - and I am extremely grateful.

Bloodless TAVI Procedure My new aortic valve replacement was successfully implanted by my specialist Dr Karim Ratib on the 29th October 2021. I am very grateful to him and his team for the personal attention given to me throughout this procedure. As a long-standing Jehovah’s Witness I was eager to have this done without the use of blood and my views were kindly respected. My breathing, cough and yawning improved immensely and immediately. What a relief this has been for me. I did not have ICU nor was there any post op bleeding. I felt in very safe and skillful hands with the word “perfect” a constant reminder things were going really well. Excellent! I was moved to the discharge area after two hours and was discharged after 30 hours. After returning home I had no pain until the third day and paracetamol cleared that quickly. I’m so thankful to Karim and his team who have used their skills to give me a new lease of life.

This amazing cardiologist is without doubt one of the finest in our wonderful NHS. Kind caring empathetic this consultant talks to his patients rather than talk at them. He fully explained my treatment and the surgery which I needed. At ever possible moment this consultant and his team were truly outstanding over and above anything I’ve ever seen or experienced!

Fantastic bedside manner - down to earth and friendly. Really knows his stuff and very skilful. Looked after my mother when she was transferred to his hospital. She was very nervous and didn't know what to expect. Also her problem was not straightforward. He explained everything he was going to do, chatted to her all the way through the procedure and laughed and joked. She felt so relaxed and happy. He performed his job extremely well and everything went very smoothly. We are all very grateful to him.
