I met Mr Baig yesterday for a pre op (bypass) assessment. His manner is very reassuring and he seemed to genuinely care that as a patient of his you are informed and reassured that the upcoming surgery will be undertaken with the uppermost skill and care.

Mr Kamran Baig performed aortic valve replacement and repaired/replaced my ascending aorta on October 16th this year. Prior to the operation I met him at the hospital and he explained all of the possible options. He patiently listened to my many questions and answered them all in detail. I was extremely nervous and anxious, he was very understanding and sympathetic with an excellent 'bedside manner' I saw him in passing several times after my operation and he always made the time to talk to me and answer any of my questions. I felt extremely well after my op and there were no complications. Thanks to his outstanding skill and the amazing care by all of the staff on Doulton Ward (without exception), I made a fantastic speedy recovery. I can not speak highly of this surgeon and his team (of which there are many). My advice to anyone facing heart surgery at this hospital, especially under the care of Mr. Baig, is don't worry. It's nowhere near as bad or traumatic as you think it is. Mr. Baig is a very clever, understanding highly skilled man who happens to work in a superb hospital.

My partner was admitted on the 02/06/17 Needing a triple heart bypass the following morning. We were anxious but were at ease as we had already met and you answered all our questions and gave all the information we needed to know so helped us a lot. We were able to prepare ourselves. The surgery went brilliantly and i was able to take my partner home within a week but whilst we were there a routine eye test was performed and found blood vessels behind the eye and performed laser eye surgery straight away. We are back today for a follow up on the eyes. I can not express our gratitude for all the help and support from everyone involved in my partners care in h d i and doulton ward and especially to consultant Kamran Baig. It was lovely of you to recogise us in passing at the hospital today and ask how we're doing. Many thanks we are forever thankful.
