After being misdiagnosed with Metastatic Squamous cell Carcinoma in April 2016 by Peterborough City Hospital also subject to a Tonsillectomy to be told that the Pathologist had misdiagnosed me bearing in mind I was only 47 years old with young children. I opted for a second opinion, that being at the University College London Hospital of which my consultant was Mr Jonathan Hughes. I cannot thank Jonathan enough for his professional, caring, understanding and complete confidence. After my tonsillectomy at Peterborough City Hospital I had Issues swallowing due to what felt like a narrowing of my throat, and when I visited Jonathan at the University College London Hospital on examination Jonathan swiftly found a lump in the left side of my Neck in the area of the Lymph node and suggested that he operated within a 2 week timescale to remove the lump. I was consulted by Jonathan in great detail of the risks of the operation due to the location of the Lump also several reasons why it was very important that I proceeded with the operation of which I obviously took no time to accept and signed all the necessary concent forms to proceed. I cannot express enough how greatfull also how much I appreciate all that Jonathan Hughes also his fantastic, professional team were in handling my personal circumstances "and just incase you read my Review Jonathan Hughes I will always be truely greatfull for the outstanding work that you do" However I wish I could say the same for Peterborough City Hospital for what they put me through. I am still suffering to this day from the traumatic experience of being told I was Terminally ill, every single day I still think I have Cancer. I would always recommend that anyone that has any similar experience as me, always opt for a second opinion even if it means having to travel 100 miles each way as I did 5 times. If I could I would give a 1 Million star rating for the Macmillan Cancer Centre, University College London Hospital also for Jonathan Hughes and his team. I hope that my feedback will give many others hope in such traumatic circumstances. Kindest Regards Mr Martin Wilson Peterborough, UK
