Dr Cardy communicates completely effectively. He introduced himself and combined being professional with being warm and very approachable. He also introduced his assistant anaesthetist who was also warm towards me. At the point of giving me my anaesthetic Mr Cardy acknowledged that I was slightly tearful and anxious and remembered and repeated back to me that I had said I had "got away with it until the age of 51" and he reassured me that he would look after me. He came to see me later on when I was back on the ward to see how I was and again the following lunchtime - I know pressures of work must mean this is not always possible but having had a bad night on the ward, not helped by the complete lack of empathy from the nursing staff, it was really helpful to see him again because, apart from my surgeon and breast nurse and Mr Cardy's assistant, he was the only other person to show me empathy and communicate with me fully in my 2 day 1 night stay in the hospital. Thank goodness because my memory of my stay was made so much better because of Mr Cardy.

He was a kind caring doctor who listened well to what i had to say and put my mind at ease for my operation and took my thoughts into account. He was very calming when I went under my GA with him and the team.
