I had done extensive research for over a year, about which weight loss procedure I wanted and the appropriate consultant. I decided to see Mr Javed Sultan in January 2016 at BMI Mount Alvernia Hospital, Guildford, Surrey. When I seen Mr Sultan for the first time he was very welcoming, took extensive history and he actually listened to what you said. I have never felt rushed during any of my consultations. We decided on the Gastric Balloon first and the the Sleeve Gastrectomy. Mr Sultan is a very highly recommended surgeon. He has got a impeccable bedside manner, a cracking sense of humour and nothing is too much for him. I owe everything to Mr Sultan, he believed in me and gave me my life back, with my fantastic weight loss tool. I wouldn't hesitate in seeing him again.

I had a Laparoscopic fundoplication at the end of November 2016. From start to finish Mr Sultan took great care of me, he provided me with lots of information about the procedure and explained the risks, what I would expect during and after the operation. It all went very smoothly and the results are amazing.

I have been under the care of Mr Javed Sultan since 2014 at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. In February this year he decided to operate on me to alleviate ongoing gastric problems that I had had for several years. The sub-total gastrectomy which Mr Sultan and his team performed was a success and I am now feeling better than I thought possible. The care and treatment I received from Mr Sultan and his team was exceptional and I am very grateful for everything that they did for me. I continue to attend the outpatient clinic.

I had a condition called Barret's Oesophagus which, following a routine 2 year Endoscopy check-up was found to have turned cancerous. This led to surgery in April 2016 at RSC hospital in Guildford to remove the oesophagus and to replace the missing section by lifting and joining the stomach. Mr. Sultan explained the severity of the proposed operation clearly beforehand and the associated risks (mortality/morbidity), as well as the likely recovery process and timescale. His attitude was very helpful and honest ("it's like being hit by a bus"). The 12-hour operation was successful and followed by a few days in intensive care and a further 3 weeks in the ward. There was a complication due to an infection otherwise my stay on the ward may have been shorter. My recovery is proceeding as planned and generally in line with expectations. I have no hesitation in recommending Mr. Sultan, his team and the RSC hospital.

Mr Sultan operated on me last year to repair a giant paraoesophageal hernia which had been causing me major discomfort for some time. I was initially reluctant to undergo surgery but Mr Sultan explained the risks associated with not doing so and encouraged me to go ahead. I'm glad that I took his advice. The surgery has been very successful and I recovered remarkably quickly. I experienced very little post-operative discomfort and few of the subsequent problems with eating which I anticipated. I was able to return to a normal (and improved) life within a few weeks. Mr Sultan's approach throughout was helpful, straightforward and understanding. The other members of his team were similarly supportive and were a pleasure to deal with. Mr Sultan is clearly a skilled surgeon and I feel fortunate to have been cared for by him and his team. I would commend him to other patients in my position.
