I had urinary symptoms for 60 years when I attended this clinic for the first time. I had found previous urologists to be very arrogant and to be honest they had not helped at all and demeaned me by not listening to my symptoms. For the first time ever when I visited this clinic I found a doctor that understood and also tests showed that I had a chronic bladder condition. I started treatment as prescribed and found the clinic was always supportive. Unfortunately to lockdown following the Covid outbreak interrupted all medical care and I do not do Zoom but I persevered with the treatment and eventually with a clear urine dip stick I took the decision to end my course of treatment myself. Since then nearly 2 years of no bladder symptoms and I don’t have to think about my bladder which until I went to the Malone Lee clinic dominated my life. I can wear tight fitting clothes, I don’t have to worry about drinking water all the time to prevent symptoms, I don’t have severe pain when my bladder is empty, and I don’t have UTI. Thank you.

Professor Malone-Lee is an amazing doctor. So empathic and kind and an absolute world expert in treating chronic UTI. He gave me my life back after 12 years of suffering and his treatment has allowed me to discontinue the very strong painkillers I needed to treat my severe bladder pain, and get on with my life. My previous urologist had told me at the age of 40 ‘you are holding down a job and bringing up a child and that’s about the best we can expect for someone with your condition’ [diagnosed as interstitial cystitis]. I absolutely dread to think the state I would have been in by now without Professor Malone-Lee’s help

After being dismissed by GP's, told it was my anxiety, told it was stress and after several months of suffering, in which I could no longer continue working and was housebound, I came across this clinic. They were the first ones who truly listened, who were kind and empathetic to how much I was suffering and the first ones who gave me a treatment which alleviated some horrific symptoms. They gave me my life back and I don't say that lightly.

I went to this clinic prior to the pandemic. It is a sausage factory where they dole out a cookie cutter approach to uti infections. This is very lucrative for all concerned. During the pandemic consultations went virtual which was fine, but then I started to get real back pain. You will be prescribed a high dose of antibiotics and possibly something called methenamine hippurate. I believe that either the antibiotics or the hippurate caused me side effects - back pain is listed as a side effect on the little sheet that comes with the medicine. I contacted the clinic twice within a month when my leg and back pain became unbearable. No bedside care was received whatsoever, no phone call just an email each time which is charged for (£40). The first email changed the antibiotic I was on, the second was to tell me they couldn’t treat me anymore, at no time was I a difficult patient, yet they charged me for that final email. I stopped taking all the tablets and my pain almost instantly went away. I consulted with my local GP and they prescribed me HRT which seems to have alleviated my UTI symptoms. In review this clinic cares most about protecting their income and not about the well-being of their patients. Steer clear.

I attended the Malone-Lee clinic after a 50 year history of UTI. My life had been dominated by my bladder. I sometimes had symptoms but with blood and white cells but when my samples were sent for culture they did not grow any organisms. Urologists were condescending - one would say I had interstitial cystitis and then when I told this to the next urologist they said it was rubbish and acted like I was an idiot. I had to consider what I ate; what and how much I drank; what I wore; prosecutes around sexual activity; how I dressed; what the weather was like; whether I was sitting in one position too long. There were so many triggers that changed a mild irritation to a full blown wanting-to-pee-24-hours-a-day-with-pain-after micturation. When a friend gave me an article about the malone Lee clinic I first of all did not go because I had been put off by the arrogant manner of other urologists - then eventually I picked up courage to attend. They do a very different urine test and found I had a chronic UTI and I was prescribed Hiprex which I took for a year. Now my bladder is normal. I can forget it, just like all the other organs in my body. I am very grateful for this clinic changing my life for the better.
