Dr. Maggs was so kind and understanding, especially as I was so anxious. It was my first appointment at Wycombe Hospital. He was very good at tying all the loose ends of various appointments at different hospitals and putting them all in one place, which was so helpful. I left feeling that he actually cared about his patients and gave as much time as I needed to talk over things. Definitely would highly recommend him.

I’m not one to exaggerate, but what I am about to say may seem a little OTT. Dr.Maggs saved my life. They say one has to hit rock bottom to get back up, and I certainly was at that point. There were too many occasions I genuinely thought I wouldn’t come out of hospital alive. Friends and family have since admitted they had felt the same. He was wonderful, supportive and generous with his time. I never once felt rushed or like just another of his patients. Whilst being knowledgable, he was the absolute opposite of condescending. There were moments I felt I was talking to my best friend rather than a medical professional. My heart lifted every time he walked onto the ward, like having your mum giving you a hug and reassuring you that you were in good hands and that if we worked together things could not only get better, they could be amazing. Since leaving hospital I have rebuilt my life, started a new job, built bridges with people and now look after myself better than ever before. I do it for me, my family and friends and equally Dr.Maggs. He truly is one of life’s most amazing people.

I am under Dr Maggs care at Wycombe Hospital for Crohns Disease. He listens to me and explains everything in great detail. I feel that i am well looked after by Dr Maggs and he is interested in my condition and i know that he wants to help make me better. Nothing is ever a problem to him, he is kind and can also bring a bit of humour into my appointment and that puts me at ease. His secretaries are very helpful too.

Dr Maggs explains everything, is patient, does what he says he is going to do and is very kind. The perfect consultant. I feel very safe under his care.

Dr Maggs is a fantastic consultant. He listens and makes you feel at ease. I trust him implicitly. I have acute alcoholic hepatitis which was diagnosed in Sep 2017 by Dr Maggs. His care and experience have kept me alive. It is now March 2019 and I am still here. It has been a struggle, in and out of Stoke Mandeville Hospital on a regular basis (ward 17) The staff on the ward are also fantastic, they make no judgement, they want to make you better in the best way possible for you. Each individual needs care in different ways. I have no hesitation that I am still here today because of Dr Maggs and his Consultant team and also the staff in ward 17 who are not praised enough.
