I am 59 years old and in December 2019 l have been diagnosed with Idiopathic Parkinson’s Disease. I spent the first two years thinking this must be a mistake, but gradually with the support of both my family and neurologist Dr J Mairvo l began to accept my condition. My trust and confidence is so much more better because of the passion & care that my neurologist has taken to help me learn to manage the condition . The help and explanation s that he gives no matter how silly l feel my questions are always makes me feel better. My biggest fear is that there is no cure for Parkinson’s, but again Mr J Mairvo has shown me ways to help through advice and guidance to live a content and happy life god willing. I will continue to attend my consultation at Salford Royal because they really do help . Kind Regards Always I wish to remain anonymous

This is the worst Doctor i have ever dealt with. I would not reccomend him! I had a phone consultation with him after presenting to my GP with various neurological symptoms for months. After discussing my problems with him (he constantly interrupted) he concluded with the promise of doing several tests and a follow up app. Tests including Mri's, nerve conduction tests and emg stating it would take several weeks because of the current COVID backlog. Understandable. Fortunately, i called the scan department to chase these "appointment's" up where i was informed non had been arranged. After many attempts to ring his secretary with no answer i contacted my GP who chased it up with an expedite letter. Later his secretary called me to say i had been discharged. After waiting several weeks for an appointment with a neurologist this upset me so much. I felt for one, he was very dishonest and doesn't follow through with what he states. He didn't do a full neurological examination on me, never met me. So how he can discharge a patient without even seeing them to seems negligent.

I see Dr Mairov every 6 months at Salford Royal Hospital and my appointments with him mostly run on time. I was very anxious about meeting him for the first time as I have a slight distrust of consultants from past experience but he was polite, friendly and listened to me. He also helped me understand my epilepsy as I didn’t know much about it (this was my fault because the diagnosis was when I was 21 which changed my life and I avoided talking about my epilepsy because I would get very upset if it was mentioned). He also helped me out with seeing a psychiatrist as I was struggling to get a referral. It took time but I do feel I can trust him and trust him to monitor my condition.

Mixed up appointments, messed up times, had to wait 2 hours to get seen. There were others that came in after me.. Had a later appointment but were seen before me, even before a guy who got in before me.. Very disappointing
