I was put on clozapine, the most dangerous atypical antipsychotic, which involves having blood tests every month for as long as you're on it and also has the side effect of agranulocytosis which affects the immune system and can cause death. I was told ' I'd most likely have to stay on it for the rest of my life' by Dr Jacek Kolsut. He and his colleague Hildah Jiah forcefully persuaded me to not lower the clozapine at the time and I stayed on it for a number of years. I later reduced the medication down to a tiny dose and was stable for a long time ( a few years). I switched to Olanzapine which is less dangerous and weaker and I've been on that for a year and a half with no withdrawal psychosis or emergence of schizophrenic symptoms. This proves that I was not treatment resistant and never needed to have been put on clozapine or to stay on it. I was also advised strongly by Dr Kuloor and Dr kohli at Colne house to never come off clozapine as they believed I would relapse. I made the decision against them and I switched to Olanzapine. I've been on that for a year and a half. I started on 10mg and I've come down to 2.5mg which is a low dose and my life has never been better since coming off clozapine. With support from my family we plan to maybe switch to a weaker drug in the future which we think is possible. Overall negative experience, stay well clear, very pro medication and not interested in helping with recovery. Also stay clear of Chris lodder who works for Glas ltd, he's very pro medication and is a whistleblower to cat team interventions.
