Most thorough and professional, whilst also patient and understanding, Dr Iqbal far exceeded all my expectations. I have struggled a lot with self-acceptance and confidence around the topic of my neurodiversity having had come from an environment where such issues are labelled “normal” or just non-existent. Furthermore, I have often been sceptical about certain types of psychological assessments and individuals in the field due to the limited amount of standardized and objective assessment methods used for diagnosis. Having gone through my ADHD assessment with Dr Iqbal was one of the most validating experiences in my entire life. He quickly recognised my hesitation around some of the questions and took an approach of gathering concrete examples of my past instead of just asking me broad questions (like I experienced elsewhere). He ultimately made sure that I was perfectly comfortable and confident with any of the answers before drawing any conclusions. Currently, I am happily stable on my medication and feel much more functional, despite having had initially dismissed the idea of trying any meds due to some of my paranoia. Throughout the titration process, Pam & Iqbal had been also incredibly patient and supportive and answered my likely highly excessive amount of questions and concerns. I felt listened too and understood. The review gave me actual hope that recovery is possible and I won’t always feel like this, which I haven’t felt for a while. My therapist suggested that I may wish to explore ADHD as a cause for many of my frustration and anxiety issues. This is after 20 years of depression, anxiety and other mental problems. After waiting on the NHS list for 5 months (and being told there is an 18 month wait!) I decided to go private. I looked at many psychiatrists and found that Dr Iqbal was highly recommended. He has a caring, interested manner and you can tell that he is genuinely interested in you, the person and in helping you.
